Flora

We enjoyed an excellent evening of macro flora, fauna and fungi last night in the company of Tony North ABPE MPAGB. A multi award winning photographer, Tony is an expert in isolating his subjects and placing them in front of a non-distracting blurred background. With the use of a humble spray bottle he adds a unique style to his images. At the same time as showing a broad range of species, he covers many techniques and styles, explaining different approaches and the importance of several factors in this sort of photography. These included macro approaches, including focus stacking and soft focus, effects of light, colour, angle of view, composition, depth of field and bokeh, while using equipment such as LED panels, reflectors, spray bottles, tripods, and clamps. Also how to post process to bring out the best in flowers and other subjects. Whether you are interested in flora, fauna or fungi his images were truly spectacular.

As the Fungus season approaches, Tony has surely inspired all of us to head to the woods!
