Seend Manor Created over the last 23 years the main walled garden, one of three, contains exceptional topiary and parterres, clipped hedges, and garden structures. These include extensive trellis work and a thatched cottage orne in the rose and peony garden, an Italian stone loggia and parterre, four extensive alleys of bleached hornbeam hedges on stilts and green oak temple, along with a classic Ming style Chinese garden with a genuine Chinese pavilion brought over from China, and a thatched African mud hut within the African garden. Several of the key features were laid out by Julian & Isabel Bannerman, including an grotto pond and fern walk, and a ruined folly in the wood. There is a productive walled kitchen garden, very fine old topiary and exceptional views across the Wiltshire countryside towards the Salisbury plain.
Seend House is a Georgian house with 6 acres of gardens and paddocks. Framed with yew and box. Highlights inc cloud and rose garden, stream lavender, view of knot garden from above, fountain with grass border, walled garden as well as formal borders. Amazing view across the valley to Salisbury Plain.
Both houses have a combined entrance fee of £10 as part of the National Garden Scheme open day. There are also home-made teas and refreshments in aid of Seend village hall and church available at an additional cost.
