Three members attended the day of Halloween at Castle Combe.
The weather was wet, although conditions were reasonably good during the morning. We were all equipped with waterproof clothing, which thankfully kept us dry throughout the initial part of the day.
From a photographic point of view, the wet conditions presented a few challenges. Spray from the track made capturing sharp images difficult, particularly when trying to freeze the action. The drifting was also less spectacular than on previous visits. With the track being wet and some of the less experienced drivers struggling to maintain their drifts, there was considerably less smoke and noise than we had hoped for. Nevertheless, there were still opportunities to practise our action photography and make the most of the conditions.
After lunch, the weather deteriorated, with the rain becoming increasingly heavy. We eventually decided to call it a day at around 1 pm rather than battle on in the worsening conditions.
Despite the weather and the less dramatic action, it was still an enjoyable outing and a worthwhile opportunity to get together and indulge in our photography. We will hopefully have better luck with both the weather and the drifting when we return next year!
