Jurassic Coast Special Interest Group Trip
To coincide with the winter Solstice the Special Interest Group, made a visit to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
Ten Members of the club set off from Lulworth Cove to arrive at Durdle Door for sunrise, accompanied by hail showers, rain and sunshine. Having caught some great images we returned to Lulworth Cove for an excellent breakfast at the Boat Shed Cafe.
Having also photographed the Stair Hole and the cove, we moved onto Tyneham. A deserted village taken over by the army for training, and only open on certain days. As well as the deserted village, we photographed Worbarrow Bay with its colourful rock formations and learnt the different types of rock visible from our leader for the day, Robert Harvey.
As the afternoon light was beginning to fade we moved again to Kimmeridge Bay in the hope of catching sunset across the limestone ledges. Sadly the cloud cover proved too thick for a good sunset.
Congratulations to all those who made this outing, it was a long day however members learnt new techniques and better use of their cameras and filters.
A big thank you goes to Robert Harvey for his intimate knowledge of the coastline and his guidance, together with thanks to Caroline Wright, who organised the day. GC
