Mere Down Falconry Centre

On Sunday 27th April, the Club’s special Interest group visited Mere Down Falconry Centre, run by Alan Gates. With a lovely sunny day and no wind, Allan flew 2 Barn Owls, 2 Harris Hawks, A Kestrel, a Lanner Falcon, Yellow billed Kite, Eurasian Eagle Owls and we also saw a baby Chaco Owl.

In Flying the bird’s between perches, we were able to improve our skills at capturing moving birds , some fast and some slow. The Falcon being the most challenging at speed, and the European Eagle Owl being the cutest and loudest.

A huge thank you goes to Caroline for organising this for us. The day was a great success and and we are certainly keen to repeat this again.

A really great Centre to visit for birds or prey, check out their website.
