Special Interest Group Visit to Westonbirt Arboretum

Six members of our Special Interest Group enjoyed a trip to Westonbirt Arboretum, hoping to capture the beautiful colours of autumn. Although the autumn colour wasn’t quite at its best during our visit, there was still plenty to photograph and inspiration to be found among the trees and woodland surroundings.

As always, the trip was as much about enjoying the company as it was about photography. There was plenty of chat, a welcome opportunity to enjoy some cake, and, of course, lots of time spent looking for interesting compositions and capturing images along the way.

It was my first visit to Westonbirt, and despite the autumn colours being a little disappointing, it certainly left me wanting to return. Perhaps a winter visit will offer a completely different photographic opportunity, with bare branches, interesting textures and shapes, and the possibility of mist or frost to add another dimension to the woodland.
