Kingswood Salver

  • Devizes Photography Club Village Hall, Bishops Canning Devizes, England, SN10 2DL United Kingdom (map)

We are planning to hold a photo shoot on the subject of ‘Musical Instruments’ at Bishops Cannings Hall, which is also the next SIG meeting date.

We are hoping to enter the Kingswood Salver and for this we need a cohesive panel of 5 printed images. Although we requested images from members on the topic of Pewsey Vale and received 30-40 images we did not feel that a competition winning panel could be put together from these, also traditionally landscapes do not tend to o well in thiscompetition.

We have the Bishops Cannings village hall booked from 5pm to 9pm and the plan is set up between 5 and 6pm and take some test shoots to ensure the settings are correct. We will then invite members to come anytime between 6pm and 8.30pm to take some images. Caroline is trying to avoid too many in the room at one time.

The aim is to shoot low key images, so we do not need a lighting set up, in fact natural light will probably be sufficient Caroline does have a few smaller lights that she can bring.

Caroline has sourced a few instruments from the Devizes Music Acadamy - A small violin, a trumpet, bells and a Ukulele, she has also sourced from other places, a flute and quite a few guitars, both acoustic and electric.

All images will be taken on the same focal length (probably 50 to 70 mm) and the same aperture so the images will have the same feel. She will make sure these settings were passed to attendees prior to the event.

We just need members to ensure they have an Arca Swiss tripod mount on your cameras. This would negate the need for anyone to be extending their own tripod in a busy enviroment and distracting anyone.

Please let Caroline if you can attend on the night.
