On the weekend of 24th/25th January 2026, Bridget Codrington will lead a trip to the City of London to photograph some of the many interesting architectural buildings in the area. The exact day will be notified next week and will be decided based on the best weather for this.
This event which will start at 10.30 meet at The Gherkin, 30 St Mary Axe. W3W lodge.rice.singer
with a 2 hour walk in the City of London looking at 3 iconic buildings and Leadenhall Market. Following some lunch we will enjoy an afternoon of long exposure photography on the Thames. This will be a nice follow-on from the talk by Les Forrester on 11th November on Art in Architecture.
For the afternoon you will need a light tripod, standard zoom lens or wide angle lens and a 10-stop filter. If you do not currently have filters then talk to Bridget or Penny about getting them before you make a purchase. It is good to have filters that are bigger than the lens otherwise you will get vignetting at the widest points of your lens and you use a step-up ring to add these filters. Magnetic filters are easier to use but more expensive.
Also the LEE ProGlass app is useful for deciding on shutter speed settings so that you get smoothed out water for that Fine Art Photography look. We can show you how to use this on the day.
Can you let Caroline know if you will be joining us and if either day is better for you, we will try to accommodate the majority if possible. Caroline will also be able to provide a full itinerary including timings for the day.
