Modernity and Geometry in Architecture

An Evening with Les Forrester, BA Hons Photo, ARPS
Last night we had the pleasure of welcoming Les Forrester to the club, via Zoom, for an inspiring talk. It was a treat to hear him share his journey, from capturing the image through to his unique creative approach, and to watch how he can take an ordinary scene and transform it into his signature edit.

I know several members admire his editing style (myself included), so it was great to get a taster of how he achieves that distinctive look. I am not sure I will ever see architecture the same way again—perhaps instead of thinking“that is so Wes Anderson,” it will now be “that is so Les Forrester.”

Les explained that when editing, sometimes you simply have to go with the flow, which felt very relatable. It was impressive to see how he notices details in buildings that others might overlook, and how he patiently works without a tripod yet still manages to capture images free of people.

It was an evening full of inspiration, fresh perspectives, and plenty of ideas to take back into our own photography.
