Three Legs, a sensor and some Glass

Last night we had the pleasure of welcoming Mark Gilligan FBIPP to the club, where he shared his work, including his personal project the Silence. Mark guided us through striking landscape imagery, all accompanies by stories from the places he visits. His passion for the landscape is unmistakable, and his research into each location adds real depth to his storytelling.

Mark brought humour, honesty, and a reminder of something many photographers forget: go out, enjpy the process, be patient, and sometimes simply hope for the right cloud at the right moment. He also spoke about how he aims to add his own interpretation when photographing well-known locations.

Mark’s long-term project The Silence is rooted in a family holiday during his childhood, when he first stood in Dinorwig Quarry and felt its overwhelming scale and presence. The early impression has continued to shape his work, resulting in thoughtful and deeply personal photographic exploration.

To find out more about mar’s photography please visit his website and he has a new youtube presentation called ‘WEATHER ROULETTE’ that may also be of interest.
