Langford Lakes
On Saturday, 20th May, Tim Tapley led a workshop at Langford Lakes, run by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, primarily to do macro photography. Fifteen members of the club assembled to hear some guidance from Tim, and then with the sun rising in the sky, and the insects becoming more active and visible, the group spent the morning honing their skills and trying to avoid the swans on the track. There were plenty of damsel flies, dragon flies, spiders, beetles and more.
Some club members had also brought telephoto lenses, for the numerous warblers, woodpeckers, cuckoos, grebe, swans, heron, kingfishers, geese, tufted ducks and a thrush who sang from the same tree for at least two hours. The site does have a cafe, so giving all a chance to discuss their morning before setting out again in the afternoon. GC
“It was a great pleasure to help out with the nature photography event at Langford Lakes on Saturday. Spending the day with a lovely group of nature and photography enthusiasts at a reserve that offers such wonderful variety is always a treat, but the icing on the cake was being in the company of other bug lovers and getting to champion the little critters that do their best to keep the world healthy, in spite of our best effort to do the contrary.”
