Polar Photography

What a fantastic evening!

Peter Orr ARPS, FRPS took us from the Arctic to the Antarctic, but the evening was as much about what it takes to make those photographs as the finished images themselves.

We saw gorgeous light, blue ice and icebergs, polar bears and king penguins — but behind those beautiful images were Zodiacs, wet lenses, crawling through the snow, early mornings, katabatic winds and even a camera bag soaked by a wave, leaving Peter relying on lenses generously lent by his fellow photographers.

A lovely addition to the evening was having Eddy Lane in the audience, who had travelled with Peter on one of his polar trips. Hearing the occasional shared memory as Peter recounted their experiences added a wonderfully personal touch to the evening.

A huge thank you to Peter for sharing his photography, experiences, and stories with us.
