Street Photography Techniques In London

On Saturday 21st February Penny Clarke led a Special Interest Group Trip to London to study and practice Street Photography.

Eleven members of the club met at Waterloo Station and were soon immersed in the graffiti in the Leake Street Tunnel. This also involved capturing silhouettes and working with light boxes, much like we did at the Lloyds IMax Cinema not far away.

Borough Market was our next stop via the tube. Members found their own lunches before making their way to the Tate Modern, stopping enroute to capture ideas such as elections in puddles. Tate Modern, provides opportunity for something a bit different, together with the Millennium Bridge and views over to St. Pauls - the area around St. Pauls offers many opportunities for street photography an abstracts.

Our last stop was Blackfriers Bridge, framing scenes and providing excellent leading lines. An impromptu band played a range of rock music, producing smiles on many of the older members present, taking them back to their youth.

Many thanks to Penny for her tips and techniques and to Caroline for all her organisation of the day.
